The present invention addresses the problem of providing a method for forming a multilayer coating film, which enables the formation of a multilayer coating film that has excellent curability at low temperatures within short time periods, excellent chipping resistance and excellent finish appearance. The present invention provides a method for forming a multilayer coating film, wherein a multilayer coating film, which has been obtained by sequentially applying an aqueous first color coating material (X), an aqueous second color coating material (Y) and a clear coating material (Z) onto an object to be coated, is baked at the same time. This method for forming a multilayer coating film is characterized in that: the aqueous first color coating material (X) contains (A) an aqueous film-forming resin and (B) a specific blocked polyisocyanate compound; and the clear coating material (Z) contains (K) a hydroxyl group-containing acrylic resin having a hydroxyl number within a specific range, (L) a polyisocyanate compound and (M) an organic metal catalyst that is composed of (M1) a specific metal compound and (M2) an amidine compound. |
