abstract [57] [Problem] A demand for a nickel positive electrode material for a Ni-MH battery having high capacity, long life, and excellent performance even in a high load discharge and over discharge state has been demanded in the field of alkaline secondary batteries. However, no material has been found that sufficiently satisfies this requirement. The tap density is 2.0 g / ml or more, the surface is coated with a cobalt compound having a cobalt valence of 2.8 or more, and the ratio of cobalt to nickel on the surface is 99% or more in molar ratio. A nickel positive electrode active material for an alkaline secondary battery was composed of nickel hydroxide particles.
