abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating suitable for a positive electrode active material of an alkaline secondary battery by ensuring uniformity and adhesion when forming a coating mainly composed of cobalt oxyhydroxide on the particle surface of nickel hydroxide powder. Nickel hydroxide powder is provided. SOLUTION: Coated nickel hydroxide for a positive electrode active material of an alkaline secondary battery, in which the particle surface of nickel hydroxide powder is coated with cobalt oxyhydroxide or a cobalt compound mainly composed of a mixture of cobalt oxyhydroxide and cobalt hydroxide. The valence of cobalt in the coating is 2.5 or more, and when the coated nickel hydroxide powder 20g is shaken in a closed container for 1 hour, the amount of coating peeling is 20% of the total coating amount.
