PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a non-sintered positive electrode with high utilization and high productivity, and an alkaline storage battery using the positive electrode and having excellent cycle characteristics in a high-temperature atmosphere. SOLUTION: In a non-sintered positive electrode having a conductive base material and a positive electrode mixture, in the positive electrode mixture, a part of nickel in nickel hydroxide on the particle surface as an active material is trivalent, A non-sintered positive electrode is formed by containing nickel hydroxide whose particle surface is coated with cobalt oxide containing sodium and a natural polysaccharide as a thickener. The valence of the cobalt oxide containing sodium is 2.6 in terms of cobalt. To 3.1, and the content of the natural polysaccharide is preferably 0.1 to 0.5 part by weight based on 100 parts by weight of nickel hydroxide. |
