(57) [Problem] To provide a positive electrode active material capable of improving the charge acceptability of a positive electrode and forming a sealed alkaline storage battery having a high discharge capacity. SOLUTION: The positive electrode active material for the sealed alkaline storage battery is selected from β-type nickel hydroxide, yttrium, gadolinium, erbium, ytterbium, and oxides, hydroxides, fluorides and chlorides of these metals. A product obtained by oxidizing at least one additive with an oxidizing agent in an alkaline aqueous solution is used. |
