Disclosed is a liquid crystal aligning agent which contains at least one kind of polymer that is selected from the group consisting of polyimides and polyimide precursors that are obtained by causing a diamine component that contains a diamine compound represented by formula (1) and a diamine compound represented by formula (2) to react with a tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride component.n(In formula (1), X 1 represents -O-, -CO-, -NH-, -CONH-, -NHCO-, -CH 2 O-, -OCO- or the like; X 2 represents an alkyl group having 1-5 carbon atoms or a non-aromatic heterocyclic ring containing a nitrogen atom; X 3 represents a five-membered or six-membered aromatic heterocyclic ring containing two nitrogen atoms which may be substituted by an alkyl group having 1-5 carbon atoms; and n represents an integer of 1-4. In formula (2), Y 1 represents a single bond, -(CH 2 ) a - (wherein a represents an integer of 1-15), -O-, -CH 2 O-, -COO- or OCO-; Y 2 represents a single bond or (CH 2 ) b - (wherein b represents an integer of 1-15); Y 3 represents a single bond, -(CH 2 ) c - (wherein c represents an integer of 1-15), -O-, -CH 2 O-, -COO- or OCO-; Y 4 represents a cyclic group selected from the group consisting of a benzene ring, a cyclohexane ring and heterocyclic rings or a divalent organic group selected from among organic groups having a steroid skeleton and 12-25 carbon atoms; Y 5 represents a divalent cyclic group selected from the group consisting of a benzene ring, a cyclohexane ring and heterocyclic rings; n represents an integer of 0-4; Y 6 represents an alkyl group having 1-18 carbon atoms, or the like; and m represents an integer of 1-4.) |
