abstract A total enteral nutritious composition which is effective in improving a serum albumin level and alleviating bedsores and comprises a protein, a glucide, a fat, minerals, and vitamins. The total enteral nutritious composition has a zinc/copper ratio of from 10 to 25 by mass and contains, per 100 kcal of the composition, at least 1.5 mg of zinc, 0.075-0.15 mg of copper, at least 185 mg of sodium, at least 0.30 mg of vitamin B1, at least 0.25 mg of vitamin B2, and at least 4.0 g of a protein. Preferably, it contains at least 5.0 g of a protein and further contains at least 0.30 mg of vitamin B6, at least 1.0 µg of biotin, at least 0.20 µg of vitamin B12, at least 20 µg of folic acid, at least 100 µg of β-carotin, and at least 10 mg of vitamin C. Furthermore, it may contain, per 100 kcal of the composition, a medium-chain fatty acid oil as a fat source in an amount of at least 35 wt.% of the fat. The composition preferably has a viscosity of 6-18 mPa·s (25°C).
