abstract A process for producing a photocrosslinked polysaccharide sponge involving the step (A) of freezing a solution of a photoreactive polysaccharide and the step (B) of crosslinking the photoreactive polysaccharide by irradiating the frozen solution with light to thereby give a polysaccharide sponge. This process is advantageous in comprising the simplified steps without resort to the removal of solvents. Further, impurities can be easily eliminated therein.
