The element comprises a polymeric binder containing a charge transporting substance represented by the formula (I). ##STR1## wherein n represents 0 or 1, R 1 , R 2 and R 3 each represent an aryl group, and R 4 and R 5 each represent a hydrogen, an alkyl group having 1-4 carbon atoms, an aryl group or an aralkyl group, provided that R 4 and R 5 are not simultaneously a hydrogen, and when n is 0, R 4 is not hydrogen.
