Optical system and assay chip for probing, detecting and analyzing molecules |
abstract |
Apparatus and method for analyzing single molecules and performing nucleic acid sequence analysis. The apparatus includes a sample well configured to receive a sample that emits emission energy when excited; At least one element for directing the emitted energy in a specific direction; And an assay chip comprising a plurality of pixels having an optical path through which the emission energy passes from the sample well to the sensor. Such devices also include devices that interface with the assay chip. Such an instrument includes an excitation light source for exciting the sample in each sample well; And a plurality of sensors corresponding to the sample wells. Each sensor can detect the emission energy from the sample in each sample well. Such a device includes at least one optical element that directs the emission energy from each sample well towards each sensor of the plurality of sensors. |
