abstract |
The engine lubrication for trunk piston vessels when fuel is supplied to the engine by heavy fuel oil has a lubricating viscosity containing at least 50% by mass of the basic raw material containing a large amount of 90% or more of saturates and 0.03% or less of sulfur or mixtures thereof. Other overbased metal hydrocarbyl-substituted hydroxybenzoate detergents and at least 1 mass% hydrocarbyl-substituted carboxylic acids, or anhydrides thereof, other than oils, and detergents having a basicity of less than 2 and a degree of carbonization of at least 80%. Or by a composition comprising an amide. Precipitation of asphaltenes in lubricants caused by the presence of heavy fuel oils as contaminants is prevented or inhibited. |
