abstract |
(57) Abstract: A compensator for a liquid crystal display device having excellent thermal stability and high temperature reliability is efficiently manufactured. SOLUTION: A planar condensed ring compound having 6 or more phenolic hydroxyl groups in one molecule, an acetylating agent and a plurality of carboxylic acid compounds having 6 or more carbon atoms are supplied to a reaction system to obtain a phenolic hydroxyl group. Of the reaction product obtained by causing the deacetylation reaction of the acetyl group obtained by the reaction and the carboxylic acid compound coexisting in the reaction system to proceed in the same reaction system. The discotic liquid crystal material is applied onto the alignment substrate, then heat-treated and cooled to manufacture a compensator for a liquid crystal display device. |
