(57) [Abstract] [Purpose] As a catalyst used in the production of ethylene oxide by catalytic gas-phase oxidation of ethylene with molecular oxygen, it has the characteristics of high selectivity, high activity and durability of catalyst life. Provided is a novel silver catalyst for producing ethylene oxide. An α-alumina carrier in which the outer surface of the carrier and the surface of the pores of the carrier are coated with amorphous silica-alumina, and the total amount of Si and Al in the amorphous silica-alumina is 3 × 10 5. -5 to 25% by weight based on the finished catalyst on the α-alumina carrier, which is -4 to 2 × 10 -1 g / g carrier and the Si / Al ratio of the amorphous component is 0.05 to 50.0 g / g. 0.005 per kilogram of fine metal silver particles and finished catalyst 01-0.05 gram equivalent weight of cesium supported silver catalyst for ethylene oxide production.
