Disclosed are an electrolytic solution that exhibits an electrochemically reversible precipitation and dissolution reaction of magnesium using a non-ether solvent, a production method thereof, and an electrochemical device using the electrolytic solution. An electrolytic solution is a magnesium ion-containing nonaqueous electrolytic solution in which a magnesium salt is dissolved in a solvent made of sulfone or a solvent made of sulfone and a nonpolar solvent. As the sulfone, an alkyl sulfone such as ethyl-n-propyl sulfone is used. As the magnesium salt, magnesium chloride or the like is used. This electrolytic solution contains a magnesium complex having a tetracoordinate dimer structure in which a sulfone is coordinated with magnesium. This electrolytic solution is used for an electrolyte layer of an electrochemical device such as a magnesium ion battery. [Selection] Figure 1 |
