abstract |
An enzymatic process for the dynamic separation of alkyl esters under organic solvent-free conditions is disclosed. For example, alkyl esters obtained from fish oil are reacted with glycerol in vacuum chambers in different proportions in the presence of water. The reaction is terminated before equilibrium is reached and the concentrated alkyl ester fraction is isolated from the reaction mixture using short path distillation. |
