abstract It is an object of the present invention to provide a circuit technology that enables low power consumption and high definition of a display device. A switch that is connected to a gate electrode of a bootstrap transistor and that is controlled by a start signal is provided on the gate electrode of the transistor. When a start signal is input, a potential is supplied to the gate electrode of the transistor through the switch, and the transistor is turned off. When the transistor is turned off, charge leakage from the gate electrode of the bootstrap transistor can be prevented. Therefore, since the time for charging the gate electrode of the bootstrap transistor can be shortened, the operation can be performed at high speed. [Selection] Figure 5
