A catalyst capable of producing ethylene oxide with high selectivity and a method for producing ethylene oxide using the catalyst are provided. In a catalyst for producing ethylene oxide, in which a catalyst component is supported on a carrier, the carrier has α-alumina as a main component and has a pore diameter of 0.01 to 100 μm in a pore distribution by a mercury intrusion method. A carrier having at least two peaks in the range and at least one of the peaks in the range of 0.01 to 1.0 μm is employed. [Selection] Figure 1A |
