abstract | New indazoles as cyclooxygenase-II inhibitors. The present invention relates to compounds of general formula I, **FORMULA**, selective inhibitors of cyclooxygenase-II, in which group A is a single bond, -O-, -S- or -NH-; R{sup,3} is hydrogen, (C{sub,1}- C{sub,12})-alkyl, (C{sub,2} C{sub,12})-alkenyl, (C{sub,2 }-C{sub,12})-alkynyl, (C{sub,1}-C{sub,12})-haloalkyl, (C{sub,1}-C{sub,12})-alkylcarbonyl, etc, to their pharmaceutically acceptable salts and solvates, and to pharmaceutical compositions containing them. The compounds of the present invention are useful in the treatment of inflammation, pain, and fever, as well as those other conditions that have recently been associated with cyclooxygenases, especially cyclooxygenase-II, such as colorectal cancer and Alzheimer's disease. Similarly, the present invention relates to a process for the preparation of the compounds, as well as their therapeutic use. |
