Process for the separation of americium from curium, which consists in subjecting an aqueous nitric solution containing americium and curium to oxidation, at room temperature, in the presence of phosphoric acid or phosphate ions at a concentration at most equal to 0 , 1 M per liter, to bring the americium to valence VI, to put the solution thus treated in contact with an organic solvent (4) which is not very reducing and which has a strong affinity for americium at valence Vl, so extracting the americium in the organic phase, bringing the organic phase containing the americium at valence VI into contact with a washing solution (7), then re-extracting the americium from the organic phase using of an aqueous solution (10).n n n Application to the treatment of solutions from the reprocessing of irradiated fuels. |
