A homogeneous, stable cosmetic cream contains fine bubbles of air or inert gas dispersed uniformly in the mass, giving a soft, light foam with density below 0.8 g/cc and a light texture. The cream may contain, as extender, an aq. protein soln., as a foam contg. air or inert gas, esp. a soln. of albumen from beaten egg, or of vegetable or animal proteins rendered hydrophilic by hydrolysis. It contains the typical constituents of day and night creams for the face, creams for the and or body, softening or moisturising creams, cold cream, cream for removing make-up, and anti-sun creams. Components include fats, liq. or pasty hydrocarbons, detergents, surfactants, softeners, moisturisers, agents protecting against the cold and other external factors, stabilisers, preservatives against germs and micro-organisms, UV screens, and water, esp. lanolin and derivs., sterols, phospholipids, vaseline, mineral oils, paraffin, etc. ADVANTAGE - The cream may contain up to 10-15 wt.% of animal or vegetable protein without loss of stability.
