The invention concerns a novel use of VIP analogues for preventing and/or treating brain damage in a human foetus, baby or infant. Said VIP analogue is selected from the group consisting of cyclic VIP analogues and non-cyclic VIP derivatives of 28 amino acids comprising in N-terminal position a N-acetyl group, then Glu in position 8 (Glu<8>), Lys in position 12 (Lys<12>), polyclonal goat in position 17 (Nle<17>), Ala in position 19 (Ala<19>), X1 in position 21, X2 in position 25, Leu in position 26 (Leu<26>), Lys in position 27 and 28 (Lys<27> and Lys<28>), Gly in position 29 and 30 (Gly<29> and Gly<30>) and Thr in position 31 (Thr<31>), X1 representing Lys (Lys<21>) or Nle (Nle<21>) and X2 representing Asp (Asp<25>) or Asn (Asn<25>). |
