In a process for producing a particulate polymer P with a mean particle diameter d50 from 0.1 to 50 νm, an emulsion E is produced from one or more monomers M which can be polymerised into the polymer P by radical polymerisation, water and at least one protective colloid SK under high shearing forces, and the emulsion E is polymerised in a reactor by using a radical polymerisation initiator RI. The process is characterised in that maximum 75 wt % of the emulsion E ('initial proportion of E') are initially fed into the reactor before polymerisation begins, and in that at least 25 wt % of the emulsion E ('added proportion of E') are only fed into the reactor after the polymerisation begins. |
