abstract An aromatic polyamide bristle which has excellent resistance to chemicals, such as acids and alkalis, and good rigidity, mechanical properties, such as strength and modulus of elasticity, and heat resistance and is suitable for use in tension members, fishing guts, catheters and other industrial applications. This bristle is formed from an optically isotropic solution and has a monofilament fineness of 10 to 200 deniers, a flatness of not more than 3, and, as mechanical properties, a tensile strength of not less than 15 g/de, an elongation at break of not more than 4.0 %, and an initial modulus of not less than 500 g/de.
