abstract A fluorinated material for coating compositions which retains the excellent properties inherent in fluoropolymers, such as heat resistance, chemical resistance, nontackiness, and frictionless properties, and directly and tenaciously adheres to metallic, glass, and other substrates. The material comprises a functional ethylenic fluoropolymer obtained by copolymerizing (a-1) 0.05 to 30 mol.% at least one ethylenic fluoromonomer having at least one functional group selected among hydroxy, carboxy, carboxylate, carboxylic ester, and epoxy groups with (b-1) 70 to 99.95 mol.% at least one ethylenic fluoromonomer not having any of the functional groups.
