abstract A process for the manufacture of shaped articles of compacted detergent powder is disclosed. The shaped articles are manufactured by compacting a particulate composition in a mould consisting of a plurality of mould parts (10, 12, 20, 14) which are moveable relative to each other, at least one of the mould parts (12) having an elastomeric coating on a surface area (16) which contacts the composition, characterised in that the elastomeric coating has, over a majority of its area, a thickness which does not exceed 0.5 mm.
