titleOfInvention | Printed circuit board fine line plating |
abstract | Printed circuit boards (10) and methods for uniformly electroplating narrow, closely spaced circuitry lines (14) onto such circuit board substrates. The method comprises providing an electroplating tank (38) containing an electroplating solution (36) with at least one anode (44) immersed therein. A conductive metal screen (46) is immersed in and extends across the electroplating solution at a location spaced apart from such anode (44). A printed circuit board substrate (32) is then placed into the electroplating solution (36) at a position wherein the screen (46) is between the anode (44) and the substrate (32). Cooper is then simultaneously plated onto the printed circuit board substrate (32) at a first voltage and onto the screen (46) at a second voltage when the second voltage is less than the first voltage. |
