Novel method of administration of known blocking agents (beta) -adrenergic receptor, such as dichloroisoproterenol, pronethalol, sotalol and alprenolol, which are used in the treatment of angina pectoris, arrhythmias, hypertension and other heart disturbances, as well as migraine. The invention furthermore comprises new dosage forms of these (Beta) -blockers which are suitable for nasal administration and which comprise solutions, suspensions, gels and ointments, More particularly, the new compositions according to the present the invention include nasal tract release compositions containing a long chain carboxylic acid salt of selected (Beta) blocker; as well as ointments and nasal gels containing the (Beta) blocker selected in the form of a free base or in the form of one of its non-toxic and pharmaceutically acceptable esters or salts. |
