abstract | Provided is a lipid production method for culturing a transformant in which a gene coding a protein (A) or (B) and a gene coding a protein (C) or (D) are introduced into a host cell, and for producing a medium-chain fatty acid or a lipid having the same as a structural component. (A) is a protein which comprises the amino acid sequence represented by SEQ ID NO: 2. (B) is a protein which comprises an amino acid sequence having at least 60% identity with the amino acid sequence represented by SEQ ID NO: 2, and has an acyl-ACP thioesterase activity. (C) is a protein which comprises the amino acid sequence represented by SEQ ID NO: 4.
