The present invention addresses the problem of providing a self-assembly composition for pattern formation which is applicable to a wide range of pattern sizes and is capable of forming a satisfactory phase separation structure. The present invention relates to a self-assembly composition for pattern formation which includes a block copolymer comprising a polymer moiety a having a structure represented by general formula (103) and/or a structure represented by general formula (104) and a polymer moiety b having a structure represented by general formula (105), the block copolymer having sugar moiety content of 3-80 mass% with respect to the whole mass of the block copolymer.
