abstract Provided are: a method for efficiently and steadily producing a reduced glutathione α-form crystal having both excellent quality and excellent productivity; and a method for storing the crystal. The present invention relates to: a method for producing an aqueous solution or an α-form crystal of reduced glutathione; and a method for storing the aqueous solution or the crystal. According to the present invention, at least one compound selected from the group consisting of an aliphatic amino acid, a sulfur-containing amino acid, an aromatic amino acid, and analogous compounds and dipeptides thereof is allowed to co-exist as a habit modifier during the production or storage of an aqueous solution or an α-form crystal of reduced glutathione. As a result, the generation of a β-form crystal of reduced glutathione and/or the transformation into a β-form crystal of reduced glutathione can be inhibited and therefore an α-form crystal of reduced glutathione can be produced steadily.
