This light-emission element includes: a positive electrode; a negative electrode; a first organic layer provided between the positive electrode and the negative electrode; and a second organic layer provided between the positive electrode and the negative electrode. The first organic layer is obtained using a composition which includes a compound represented by formula (H-A) (in formula (H-A): Z A represents a group represented by -N(R ZA )-, sulfur, oxygen, or the like; R ZA and R Z1 -R Z4 represent hydrogen or substituents, with the caveat that at least one among R Z1 -R Z4 is a monovalent heterocyclic ring group; Z 1 -Z 4 represent carbon or nitrogen; and ring R HA represents an aromatic hydrocarbon ring or an aromatic heterocyclic ring), and a metal complex represented by formula (1) (in formula (1): M represents iridium, platinum, or the like; n 1 represents an integer of at least 1; n 2 represents an integer of at least 0; n 1 +n 2 is 2 or 3; E 1A -E 4A and E 2 represent nitrogen or carbon; R 2A , R 3A , and R 4A represent hydrogen or substituents; ring R 1A represents a triazole ring; ring R B represents an aromatic hydrocarbon ring or an aromatic heterocyclic ring; and A 1 -G 1 -A 2 represents an anionic bidentate ligand).
