abstract The present invention addresses the problem of providing an organic electroluminescence element that can be stably driven for a long period due to improved film durability. The present invention also addresses the problem of providing a display device and an illumination device provided with the organic electroluminescence element, as well as a light-emitting composition. This organic electroluminescence element has an organic layer containing a compound having, in the same molecule, an electron donor constituent part and an electron acceptor constituent part, wherein the organic electroluminescence element is characterized in that the relationship between the energy value of the highest-energy occupied orbital (HOMO) and the energy value of the lowest-energy unoccupied orbital (LUMO) for the whole molecule and constituent portions of the molecule of the compound as calculated by molecular orbital calculation has a predetermined correlation.
