abstract Provided is a cathode binder composition having superior binding properties and oxidation resistance. Further provided are a cathode slurry produced using the binder composition, a cathode, and a lithium ion secondary battery. The cathode binder composition contains a graft copolymer having an average degree of polymerization of 300-3000, and resulting from grafting a monomer having acrylonitrile as the primary component to a polyvinyl alcohol having a degree of saponification of 70-100 mol%. Also, the cathode slurry contains the cathode binder composition, a cathode active material, and a conduction auxiliary. Furthermore, the cathode is produced using the cathode slurry, and the lithium ion secondary battery is provided with the cathode.
