A tubular body according to the present invention is obtained by using a SiC fiber-reinforced SiC tube as a base material, and by forming a metal layer on the inside of the base material. The tubular body is a structure obtained by forming a rare-earth silicate layer on the outer surface side of the base material. Thus, it is possible to provide a tubular body that is suitable for use as a fuel cladding tube having a structure that is highly reliable not only during normal operation, but also during transportation when confining radionuclides because even in the event of an accident involving fuel contained in the reactor core of a nuclear reactor that uses water as a coolant, the generation of hydrogen caused by a reaction with the water is suppressed. |
