abstract |
The present invention relates to: a nematic liquid crystal composition which has a positive dielectric anisotropy (∆ε) and is useful as a liquid crystal display material; and a liquid crystal display element which uses the nematic liquid crystal composition. A liquid crystal composition of the present invention has a large absolute value of the dielectric anisotropy and a low viscosity; and a liquid crystal display element using this liquid crystal composition has excellent display quality with high contrast and high-speed response, while being free from image burn-in and display defects. A liquid crystal display element using a liquid crystal composition of the present invention has a good balance between high-speed response and suppression of display defects, is particularly useful as a liquid crystal display element for active matrix driving, and is applicable as an IPS or TN liquid crystal display element, and the like. |
