abstract Disclosed in the present invention are a sterol derivative, preparation method therefor and use thereof. Said sterol derivative comprises sterol compounds having structure according to formula (I), or pharmaceutically acceptable salts of these compounds, or extracts containing them, or compositions containing them. In the structure of formula (I), R1 is -OH, =O, H or C1-C3 alkyl; R2 is -OH, H or C1-C3 alkyl; R3 is -OH, =O, H or C1-C3 alkyl; R4 is -OH, H or C1-C3 alkyl, and at least one of R1, R2, R3 and R4 is -OH. The compounds having structure of formula (I) can be utilized in the manufacture of drugs having inhibitory effect of activity of HMG-CoA reductase, and said prepared drugs can effectively inhibit the HMG-CoA reductase activity or be used for preparing anti-cancer drug.
