abstract |
The present invention relates to methods for treatment or prevention of Parkinsons disease and associated conditions by increasing the expression Otx2 in the midbrain dopaminergic neurons of the patient. The present invention further relates to methods for the diagnosis and evaluation of Parkinsons disease. For instance, patient test samples are analyzed for the presence of one or more specific variant sequences associated with Parkinsons disease. In some embodiments, the variant is a promoter mutation in the Otx2 gene. |
