The present invention relates to a new kind of nuclear fuel elements in which one or more radioactive isotopes are comprised in a quartz matrix, either in the form of a solid solution or in the form of a dispersion of powders of compounds of said radioactive isotopes in said matrix. The invention also relates to sol-gel processes for the production of the above nuclear fuel elements. |
