Disclosed are: a DPP-4 inhibitor which can be produced using a food as a raw material and is suitable for oral ingestion with respect to taste and absorbability; and a composition for preventing and/or ameliorating diabetes, which contains the DPP-4 inhibitor. The DPP-4 inhibitor is characterized by being produced by treating red beans (adzuki beans) or kidney beans with a microorganism or a protease produced by a microorganism. Particularly, a desirable DPP-4 inhibitor can be produced by hydrolyzing the red beans with a koji mold or a protease derived from a koji mold to fragment a protein contained in the red beans. |
