abstract High safety is achieved by suppressing the generation of a gas within a battery.nSpecifically disclosed is a nonaqueous electrolyte battery which comprises: a positive electrode wherein a positive electrode active material layer containing a positive electrode active material is formed on a positive electrode collector; a negative electrode wherein a negative electrode active material layer containing a negative electrode active material is formed on a negative electrode collector; a separator that is provided between the positive electrode and the negative electrode; and an electrolyte that is impregnated into the separator. In the nonaqueous electrolyte battery, a heteropoly acid and/or a heteropoly acid compound is contained as an additive in at least one of the positive electrode, the negative electrode, the separator or the electrolyte.
