Disclosed is an electrode material which is reduced in the amount of a carbon material contained therein, and is thus capable of improving the capacitance characteristics. Also disclosed is an electrode containing the electrode material. The electrode material is composed of metal oxide nanoparticles which are produced by applying a shear stress and a centrifugal force to a reactant that contains a reaction inhibitor within a rotating reaction chamber during a chemical reaction, and carbon nanotubes which are dispersed by applying a shear stress and a centrifugal force thereto within the rotating reaction chamber and have a specific surface area of 600-2,600 m 2 /g. The metal oxide nanoparticles are supported by the carbon nanotubes in a highly dispersed manner. Lithium titanate is suitable for use as the metal oxide. |
