abstract |
Disclosed is a process for efficiently producing a-substituted norbornanyl acrylates on a commercial scale while suppressing the production of by-products derived, for example, from intermolecular cyclization and overaddition to acrylic acid. The a-substituted norbornanyl acrylates are useful as norbornene-type resist monomers. An a-substituted acrylic acid is reacted directly with a substituted norbornene in the presence of at least one acid catalyst selected from methanesulfonic acid and camphorsulfonic acid. According to this reaction, the production of by-products derived, for example, from intermolecular cyclization and overaddition of the acid to the product can be suppressed. |
