abstract After extensive research with the objective of providing a highly safe preventative and/or therapeutic agent against atomic dermatitis with low risk of side effects, it was found that an extract extracted from the rind of mangosteens (Garcinia mangostana L.) by means of a polar solvent was effective in the prevention or treatment of atopic dermatitis. Provided is a preventative and/or therapeutic agent against atopic dermatitis which comprises an extract extracted from the rind of mangosteens by means of a polar solvent. Further provided are food products that contain the preventative and/or therapeutic agent against atopic dermatitis.
