abstract | The present invention relates to a method of identifying if a subject is to be admitted to the hospital, the method comprising a) determining the amount of very low concentration of troponin I or T in a sample of the subject; and b) comparing the amount of very low concentration of troponin I or T determined in step a) to a reference amount, whereby a subject to be admitted to the hospital is to be identified. Moreover, the present invention pertains to a method for predicting the risk of mortality based on determining the amount of very low concentration of troponin I or T in a subject. Also encompassed by the present invention are devices and kits for carrying out the aforementioned methods. The present invention further relates to methods, devices and kits for identifying if a subject is to be admitted to the hospital, for deciding about admitting a subject to the hospital, or for predicting the risk of mortality for a subject, using determination of at least three markers, selected from at least one neurohormonal marker, at least one ischemic cardiac marker, at least one marker of the transforming growth factor-β cytokine superfamily, and/or at least one inflammatory marker, in the same or different sample of the subject. |
