abstract |
Disclosed is a bacterium capable of the simultaneous fermentation of bioethanol, which is a transformed microorganism belonging to the genus Zymobacter and having, introduced therein, a foreign gene encoding at least one enzyme selected from a fructose kinase and a phosphomannose isomerase both derived from a bacterium strain capable of producing a mannose-metabolizing enzyme and a foreign gene encoding at least one enzyme selected from a xylose isomerase, a xylulokinase, a transaldolase and a transketolase all derived from a bacterium strain capable of producing a xylose-metabolizing enzyme, and which can simultaneously ferment glucose, mannose and xylose into ethanol. The bacterium is a novel bacterium belonging to the genus Zymobacter which can simultaneously ferment glucose, mannose and xylose contained in a mixed state in a saccharified solution of a woody or herbaceous biomass into ethanol. |
