abstract A display device includes an electrode layer (1701a), which contains a conductive polymer, and a display layer (1703), which may be a liquid crystal layer. An inorganic insulating film (1716) is provided between the electrode layer and the display layer. The film prevents ionic impurities in the electrode layer from moving into the display layer and deteriorating a liquid crystal material or the like in the display layer.
