In an embodiment, it is intended to provide a food or a drink for promoting hair growth and a medicinal composition for promoting hair growth which contain an extract of a plant belonging to the family Compositae or a component thereof, more specifically, a food or a drink for promoting hair growth and a medicinal composition for promoting hair growth which contain an extract of Chrysanthemum parthenium or parthenolide. In another embodiment, it is intended to provide a food or a drink for promoting hair growth and a medicinal composition for promoting hair growth which contain an extract of Chrysanthemum parthenium or parthenolide together with a member of the vitamin B family. In a still another embodiment, it is intended to provide a method of promoting hair growth, etc. by using an extract of a plant belonging to the family Compositae or a component thereof, in particular, an extract of Chrysanthemum parthenium or parthenolide.
