The invention provides an electron donor/acceptor dyad which can realize a long-life charge separation state having both high oxidizing power and high reducing power. The invention relates to quinolinium ion derivatives represented by the general formula (I), stereoisomers or tautomers of the same, or salts thereof: [Chemical formula 1] (I) [wherein R1 is hydrogen, alkyl, or the like; and Ar1 to Ar3 are each hydrogen or an electron-donating group]. The derivatives can realize a long-life charge separation state having both high oxidizing power and high reducing power by virtue of their having the above structure and are therefore useful in various products such as photocatalysts, photosensitizers, colorants, oxidizing agents, reducing agents, dye-sensitized solar cells, and organic EL devices. |
