Also disclosed is a molding material comprising a monofilamentous carbon fiber and a monofilamentous thermoplastic resin fiber, wherein the carbon fiber is contained in a high content, has a long fiber length, and is arranged randomly. Further disclosed is a method for production of a fiber-reinforced thermoplastic resin molded article, wherein the method comprises subjecting the molding material to compression molding.
