abstract | Disclosed is an assay device for determining the presence or absence of an analyte of interest in a liquid sample, the device comprising: a first, mobilisable labelled, moiety and a second moiety; a capture zone comprising a first immobilised capture agent for the first mobilisable labelled moiety; and at least a liquid transport means to transport the first mobilisable labelled moiety to the capture zone; wherein the first mobilisable labelled moiety is capable of generating a first signal at the capture zone and the second moiety is capable of generating a second signal at the capture zone; and wherein the second signal generated at the capture zone is essentially independent of the presence or absence of analyte of interest in the sample and wherein the strength or intensity of the first signal generated at the capture zone is dependent on the amount of analyte in the sample; and further wherein the first mobilisable labelled moiety is of a first colour and the second moiety is of a second colour, and wherein the first signal generated by the capture of the first labelled moiety in the capture zone is capable of obscuring the second signal generated by the second moiety at the capture zone. |
